Alaskan Native artist, Helen Jane Simeonoff, is known for her vibrantly colored
watercolor paintings depicting images from her life. In her spare time she
enjoys gardening and her yard of Alaskan wildflowers is as colorful as her
paintings. She was born on Kodiak Island, Alaska and she studied art in San
Diego, California and watercolor painting in Adak, Alaska. After working as
legal secretary for 20 years and then for the Anchorage Police Department for 6
years, Helen has left to become a full-time artist. Helen is passionate about
her culture and other Alaskan Native cultures. When not painting, she spends a
great deal of time researching genealogy and Alaska Native heritage. Many times
the subjects of her paintings are inspired by her research and Helen's favorite
bird, the raven, is depicted in several of her works. |
