Mihael Blikshteyn
Mihael Blikshteyn's photography specializes in lifestyles, fisheries, tourism and conservation issues. Mihael's primary coverage area is Southeast Alaska, although he travels extensively throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Mihael has a graduate degree in fishery biology from School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, University of Alaska Fairbanks. Hailing from St. Petersburg, Russia with a stint of 8 years in New York City, and months in Hawaii, Tanzania and Chile, he's been living in Juneau, Alaska for the past 8 years. Various jobs and research projects have taken him from wooden fishing dinghies on Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania to 200-ft catcher-processors in the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska, from survey skiffs on the Illinois River and research vessels around Hawaii and the Gulf Stream to a 400-ft icebreaker in the Bering Strait. He travels extensively in Alaska, from the rainy Southeast to the windy Aleutian Islands, from the swampy Kuskokwim to the Interior
