Mihael Blikshteyn's photography specializes in lifestyles, fisheries, tourism and conservation issues. Mihael's primary coverage area is Southeast Alaska, although he travels extensively throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Mihael has a graduate degree in fishery biology from School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, University of Alaska Fairbanks. Hailing from St. Petersburg, Russia with a stint of 8 years in New York City, and months in Hawaii, Tanzania and Chile, he's been living in Juneau, Alaska for the past 8 years. Various jobs and research projects have taken him from wooden fishing dinghies on Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania to 200-ft catcher-processors in the Bering Sea and the Gulf of Alaska, from survey skiffs on the Illinois River and research vessels around Hawaii and the Gulf Stream to a 400-ft icebreaker in the Bering Strait.
